Are you an Instant Coffee drinker? Here’s why you should consider switching

Like all good rivalries, this one has also been argued about for years. The instant coffee vs ground coffee conflict. While there are certain factors that distinguish the two, both are still types of coffee. They are however made of different coffee beans, have different processes, taste different and their cost varies

Freshly brewed coffee contains all its essential oils and chemicals, giving it more flavor than instant coffee, the flavor has more variety, tastes more fresh, and adds depth to the drink. The reason for the different tastes is because instant coffee is usually manufactured using cheaper Robusta beans which are more bitter rather than using Arabica beans which are more aromatic and preferred by coffee brewers.

From a health perspective, instant coffee contains twice as much chemical acrylamide compared to fresh coffee. Acrylamide, a chemical also found in cigarette smoke, is formed in instant coffee when coffee beans are roasted and overexposed, which can damage the nervous system. The amount present in instant coffee is quite low, though consistently drinking it does expose your body to the chemicals.

Instant coffee also contains less amount of caffeine, one gram of instant coffee contains only about sixty three milligrams of caffeine whereas one gram of brewed coffee contains about ninety two milligrams of caffeine.

There is something relaxing and stress relieving about brewing your own coffee and then consuming it, being more involved in the process makes the drink taste more rewarding. For most coffee drinkers it’s not just the caffeine jitters but the experience of the drink. The aroma, the taste of fresh coffee, the pretty metallic espresso machine, the sound of the stream wand creating foam, and the dripping of quality coffee for you to devour. The old coffee grounds can be used to fertilize your garden or even as compost.
Freshly brewed coffee has so many stories behind it.  Some coffee enthusiasts prefer to roast their own beans at home from the raw coffee beans to customize the flavor profile of their coffee. Every different type of bean has a different story. When it comes to choosing between brewed coffee and instant coffee it depends on mainly three factors: the cost, flavor, and convenience. Depending on how these three factors play in your life and schedule, you can choose between instant and brewed coffee.
